Robert Snyder joins the Michigan ACMP Chapter to discuss his book "Innovation Portfolio: Five Verbs Shape Your Team’s Legacy." Grab a copy today from your favorite book store and be part of a lively discussion with Robert during our November Book Club.

About the Book

Today’s conversation centers on Robert’s second book, casually titled “Five Verbs.” The foundations for the book include 1) everything a project might govern with Four Adjectives (RACI) and 2) all work done in the spirit of collaboration … is simpler, more transparent, and more durable governed by Five Verbs (draft, review, revise, approve, and distribute). Five Verbs manages an organization’s “Expectation Portfolio” representing its accountability, alignment, and low marginal cost to change its mind (in other words, low documentation = high marginal cost to take next steps with recent decisions).

Every change professional leaves certain things for those who come after them. Consciously or not, every change team leaves a legacy for the next team. Being cheap with documentation causes future innovation costs to skyrocket. The right documentation is nothing short of a love letter to your future team.

Your project plans don’t need 20, 30, or 40 different verbs. This is noise and counterproductive complexity. Your project plan needs to govern an elegant expectation factory and can govern this factory with Five Verbs. Five Verbs is a ruthlessly disciplined yet generous and empathetic framework to achieve success today and tomorrow.
